Betty Jane Shelton, 65, died Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 2, 1954, in Kingman, KS, to Alois Joseph and Emma Beatrice (Kathman) Adelhardt.

She was a 1972 graduate of Zenda High School and graduated from dental school two years later. Betty had been a dental hygienist for Dr. Briscoe.

On December 31, 1977, she married Richard Edward Shelton in Hutchinson. Her husband, Richard, of almost 42 years, survives. Also surviving are: son, Nathan and wife Nola; grandchildren, Gage, Taylor, Jessica, Grace, Corbin and Luke; stepdaughters, Jill Kelley and husband Russ, and their children, Max and Grant, and Petra Sille, all of Hutchinson; brothers, Steve Adelhardt of Harper and Bob Adelhardt of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Duane Adelhardt.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service, per Betty's wishes. Memorial gifts may be made to Hutchinson Community College Endowment Association-Sports Dept., in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
