Betty Lou Vieyra, 73, died May 8, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Dec. 6, 1932, in Hays, the daughter of Harold A. and Lulu Bell Hance Bookless. She attended Hutchinson Public Schools. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.
On Aug. 23, 1953, she married Rojelio Velasquez "Jupe" Vieyra in Hutchinson. He died May 27, 2004.
Survivor include: two sons, Louis "Gene" and wife, Dana, and Greg, all of Hutchinson; two daughters, Juanita "Babette" Duer and her companion, Jim Evans, and Regina Vieyra and husband, Joe Bohannan, all of Hutchinson; a brother, William "Bill" Bookless and wife, Wilma, Wichita; a sister, Marsha Lehner and husband, John, Wabash, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Byard, Jesse Vieyra and wife, Leslie, Victor Valles, Cassandra Pelozo and husband, Mario, Danielle Duer, Chad and Justin Bauer, Timmy Bohannan, and Lauren and Katelyn Vieyra; four great-grandchildren, Christiana and Taylee Vieyra, Avery Byard and Annaliese Valles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Brian Barrie presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the mortuary, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
