Betty Jane White, 73, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born April 26, 1933, in Salem, Ill., the daughter of Martin and Ressie Branson Wantland and stepfather, Cecil Wilcoxen. She was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. A resident of Hutchinson since 1964, moving from Illinois, she was a teacher and administrator for Mothers Day Club Nursery.
She was a member of AAUW.
On Nov. 29, 1950, she married Arthur L. White in Salem, Ill. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Richard, Larry and Don (Faye), all of Hutchinson; a brother, William "Bill" Wantland, Salem, Ill.; a sister, Mary Wilkinson, Salem, Ill.; five grandchildren, Scott White (Jennifer), North Platte, Neb., Leon White (Jill), Baytown, Texas, Marty White, Hutchinson, Melissa Ragland (John), Ponca City, Okla., and Julia Garcia (Julian), Hutchinson; and six great-grandchildren, Allison White, Melinna and Alonna Acevedo, Evin Ragland, and Ofelia and Nuela Garcia.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ivan "Van"; and a brother, Francis Wantland.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Getting presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
