Betty Mae Whitmore, 85, of Hutchinson died April 18, 2018, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born November 10, 1932, in rural Reno County, to Gideon and Mary (Stewart) Troyer.
Betty attended Haven High School and was known as a meticulous seamstress who enjoyed sewing for friends and family. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary #68, Double Circle Sunday school class, United Methodist Women, and First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. Betty loved to paint, decorate cakes, and volunteer working with the church youth group.
On July 31, 1949, she married Benjamin Whitmore in Haven. He died June 7, 2016, after sharing 66 years of marriage.
Betty is survived by: children, Nina Goodrick (Terry Nitschke) of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Lamont Whitmore (Cindy) of Inman, Ricky Whitmore of Hutchinson, Tim Whitmore (Amy) of Santa Ana, California; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Doris Ogden, Donna Lee Riley, Gordon Troyer; and daughter-in-law, Daisy Whitmore.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 101 East 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jeff Slater officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
