Bill Hicks, 93, died Dec. 18, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Peabody, Kan., to Virgil and Lasca Davis Hicks.
He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1938 and then joined the United States Army, serving in WWII. Bill married Pamela Edgington on June 3, 1944, in London, England. She died Dec. 19, 1995. He worked as a driller for Dialog Drilling Company for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include: sons, David Hicks and wife Janean of Inman, Gary Hicks of McPherson; daughters, Susan Lockwood and husband Steve of Topeka, Venita Scott of Hoisington, Sondra Satern and husband Dwight of Henryetta, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Juanita Rockwell.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or Helping Hands Humane Society, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
