Obituary

Billy G. Evitt, 79, died Aug. 30, 2008, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Idalou, Texas, the son of Urney P. and Oneita Bloyd Evitt. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he worked in boat manufacturing.

He was a member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1945 to 1949.

On April 20, 1965, he married Bonnie L. Shelton. She survives.

Other survivors include: daughter, Connie Navarro and husband, Steve, Hutchinson; stepsons, Larry Bilbrey, Ames, Iowa, and Gary Bilbrey, Green Valley, Ariz.; stepdaughters, Donna Smith, Wisconsin Dells, Wis., and Linda Thoren, Ankeny, Iowa; brother, E.J., Sand Springs, Okla.; three grandchildren, Tara, Alyssa and Vincent Mora; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Garcia, a great-granddaughter, Aubrianna Garcia, and a stepdaughter, Judie Withington.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Naval Honor Guard.
