WICHITA - Billy Roy "Bubba" Schmutz, 58, died Feb. 24, 2013, in Wichita. He was born Oct. 2, 1954, in Hutchinson to William Rudolph and Cora Ann Gilmore Schmutz.

Billy was a 1973 graduate of Buhler High School and joined the United States Navy.

He married Jeanette Ventsam on April 30, 1977. He later married Lucinda Jane Brewer Nitcher. She died Jan. 12, 1992.

He retired from Cargill Soybean Oil Refinery as an operator.

Survivors include: son, Jason Schmutz and wife Sheena of Liberal, Kan.; daughter, Miranda Schmutz of Houston, Texas; brother, Paul Schmutz and wife Nancy of Hutchinson, and a host of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Military honors will be conducted by United States Navy Honor Guard. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
