Blanche Showalter, 89, died Friday, March 8, 2013. She was born near Haven, September 4, 1923, the daughter of Joseph J. and Fannie Schrock Yoder.
She was a lifetime Reno County resident, a member of Journey Mennonite Church and had been a homemaker and a teller at Yoder Bank.
On December 15, 1940, she married Russell Dale Showalter in Hesston. He survives. Other survivors include: their children and spouses, Steve and Peggy, Inman, Pat and Dennis Willems, John and Lana, Jim and Carol, all of Hutchinson, and Cindy and Eldon Martens, Inman; a brother, Don Yoder, Goddard; two sisters, Mary Lou Showalter, Hutchinson, and Mickie Bontrager, Wichita; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen and Dick Yoder, a sister, Vera Bontrager and a great-grandson.
Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Yoder Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Journey@SouthHutchinson, 808 South Poplar, South Hutchinson, KS 67505, with Pastors Howard Wagler and Eric Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at South Hutchinson Mennonite Campus. Memorial gifts may be made to great grandson, Nick Craig's Medical Fund (Cystic Fibrosis) at First National Bank, or Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
