Obituary

STERLING – Bobby G. "Cowboy Bob" Harper, 84, died Aug. 30, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Greensburg, to George and Alice (Selby) Harper.

Cowboy Bob graduated from Hugoton High School. He was a cowboy and enjoyed the farm life, hauling and working cattle, roping, and riding horses. Cowboy Bob was a mentor to many individuals. He was a member of the Sterling Saddle Club and Salem Community Church of the Brethren.

On Dec. 23, 1968, he married Mildred in Coldwater. She died March 4, 2014. Survivors include: children, Dale Harper and wife MaryAnn of Wichita, Vivian Winter and husband Gary of Inman, Kenny Grant Harper and wife Susan of Wichita, Bobby George Harper and wife Tammy of Wichita, Kenny Ray Harper and wife Anna of Alpna, Ark., Connie Barney and husband Ron of Wichita; two brothers, Dale Harper and Darrell Harper, both of Paiona, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; ex-wife, LeIva E. Hawkins; daughters, Bonnie Harper, Debbie Braum, and Saundra Harper.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor George D. Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
