Obituary

Bonnie Lea Byrum, 79, died March 28, 2024, at Thorne Care Center Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, KS.  She was born December 8, 1944, in Denver, CO, to Henry Bechthold and Helen (Lewellen) Bechthold.

Bonnie was a 1962 graduate of Hutchinson High School.  She also graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, KS.  Bonnie was a member of the Oklahoma Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary, Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, KS, and the United Methodist Women's church organization.

On August 8, 1992, she married Jim Byrum, Jr., in Hutchinson, KS.  He died July 17, 2014.

Bonnie is survived by:  her children, Timothy (Cindy) Trapp of Nashville, TN, Terry (Heather) Trapp of Madisonville, KY, Tammy Trapp of Hutchinson, KS, and Teresa Lehmann (Ron) Corwin of Hutchinson, KS; granddaughter, Mauryn Lehmann; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband, Jim Byrum, Jr., sister, Barbara McVey; and Kendall Trapp, the father of Timothy, Terry, and Tammy.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, KS. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
