Bonnie V. Childs, 86, of Hutchinson, died January 31, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 14, 1933, in Menlo, KS, to Clarence O. and Violet Maye (Moore) Ferguson.
Bonnie was a 1950 graduate of Menlo High School. She was a retired bridal consultant for Dillards and office manager for Jayhawk Realty. Bonnie was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, National Realtors Association, and Altrusa International of Hutchinson, of which she was selected as the 'Woman of the Year.'
On October 29, 1950, she married George E. Childs in Colby, KS. They were united in marriage for over 69 years.
Bonnie is survived by: husband, George E. Childs of Hutchinson; daughter, Betty (Roy) Cox of Council Grove, KS; sons, Jim (Kris) Childs of Bruceton Mills, WV, David (Susie) Childs of Hutchinson, and Dan (Carla) Childs of Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Glenda Meadows; and grandson, Corey Meadows.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with The Reverend Larry Brock and Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church or Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
