Obituary

Bonnita Lynn "Bonnie" Coon, 76, of Hutchinson, died December 11, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born June 20, 1945, in Emporia, to Ernest E. and Ramona J. (Phillips) Foster.

In addition to being a homemaker, Bonnie worked various jobs outside the home. She loved being a wife and mother. Her love language was giving – she loved to do for others. Bonnie was also a great artist, crafter, a "Black Belt" shopper, and QVC enthusiast. She was of the Christian faith.

On December 22, 1962, Bonnie married Gary W. Coon, in Wichita. They shared 57 years of marriage before his death on September 10, 2020.

She is survived by: her sons, Troy Coon (Janice) of Hutchinson, Jeff Coon (Patty) of Manhattan, Brad Coon (Melody) of Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Zach Coon, Thad Coon (Chelsi), Heidi Harrison (Robert), Deonis Coon, Jade Smith, Megan Beck (Tucker), Ethan Coon, Seth Coon (April Robertson), Hannah Lawrence (Hunter); 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Pamela Campbell of Wichita; brother, Dennis Foster (Helen) of Troy; sister-in-law, JoAnn Wallace of Augusta; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Bonnie was preceded in death by: her parents; brother-in-law, Gary Campbell; nephew, Travis Campbell; niece, Alexis "Lexi" Bruner; and brother-in-law, Lewis Wallace.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2021, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 through Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m. Monday. Private family burial will take place in Mount Zion Cemetery near Kellogg, KS.
