Brenda K. McCurdy, 58, died December 28, 2013, at Hospice House. She was born September 29, 1955, in Salina, KS, to Robert H. and Marcia J. Meek Kurfiss.

She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1974, and then later from Sterling College in 1995, with her teaching degree. Brenda was an elementary school teacher and also taught special education in both Wichita and Hutchinson Public School systems.

Survivors include: sons, Matthew McCurdy and wife Kelly, Hutchinson, and Ryan McCurdy and wife Hannah, Las Vegas; three grandchildren, Kinzie and Jackson, Hutchinson, KS, and Carter, Las Vegas; her father Robert Kurfiss and stepmother, Marilyn, Independence, KS; and sisters, Debbie Gerard and husband Roy, Hutchinson, and Denise Cessna and husband Mark, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2014,at Elliott Mortuary with Richard Foster presiding. Burial will be at a later date in Roselawn Cemetery, Salina , KS. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
