Obituary

Brenda Purdue, 61, died unexpectedly March 30, 2022.  She was born February 4, 1961, in Hutchinson, to Jesse Franklin and Erma Lee (Ahrens) Reed.

Brenda graduated from Hutchinson High School, and for over 20 years, was the billing manager at Health-E-Quip. She enjoyed traveling, enjoying adult beverages with her friends, and eating at Anchor Inn.  Above all, Brenda treasured the time spent with her seven granddaughters; they were her pride and joy.

Brenda is survived by:  children, Michael Abernathy (Paula Poseiro), Chad Abernathy (Bonny), and Michelle Abernathy; granddaughters, Trinity Copeland, Kristen Abernathy, Ashley Abernathy, Taylor Copeland, Emma Abernathy, Teagan Copeland and Kayley Abernathy; brother, Scott Reed; niece, Amanda Reding; half-brothers, Jerry Reed and Jim Reed; and half-sisters, Sandra Reed and Mavis Butters; and companion, Ernie Graham.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; half-brother, David Reed; Michael, Chad, and Michelle's father, Konard Abernathy; and companion, Jim.

Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Elliott Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
