Obituary

Brian Leslie, 52, passed from this life March 26, 2020.  He was born July 5, 1967, in Aberdeen, Maryland, to Ronald Leslie and Joleen (Miller) Leslie.  Brian grew up in Hutchinson with his parents and younger brother, Kent.

Brian graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1985.  He attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a bachelor's degree in English in 1990.  As an undergraduate, Brian also attended the University of Exeter in the UK. He had many other interests that led him to study electrical engineering and information technology.  Brian later received a master's degree in Management Information Systems from Friends University.

Brian enjoyed learning from and mentoring many people.  In high school, he participated in debate, tennis, and band.  Brian taught English as a teaching assistant at KU. He owned a computer repair store in Hutchinson, worked computer support at Horizons and the Hutchinson Clinic, and was formerly the Housing and Dining Services Residential Networking (ResNet) Help Desk Coordinator at Kansas State University.

As coordinator, he led the ResNet staff by assisting residential students with their computer network registrations (Operation PC or OpPC)  as well as any other computer related needs. He and his team also provided desktop support for full-time administrative staff. Brian was a huge KU fan, yet his staff never let him forget where he worked. Quick with a smile, he was a gentle giant and always took time to listen and support his student staff, or anyone that needed someone to talk to.

Brian loved music, movies, science fiction, Boston Terriers, the Kansas City Chiefs, KU sports, and reading.

He is survived by family members and friends throughout the country.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kent Leslie.

Cremation has taken place.  Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. Fourth, Hutchinson, with Pastor Michael Tomson-DeGreeff officiating.  Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
