Obituary

Callie Eveleen Smalling, 82, died May 12, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Dewey, Okla., the daughter of Elmer F. and Dimple A. Martin Peterson. A resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker, a clerk for Woolworth's and a self-employed bookkeeper.

She was a former member of Bethany Nazarene Church, Full Gospel Church Scout Leader and Caravan (Nazarene scouting organization).

On Aug. 17, 1951, she married Charles E. Smalling in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 1, 1982.

Survivors include: a son, Tom, Hutchinson; three daughters, Peggy Tjaden, Hastings, Neb., Sally Silas, Tampa, and Delores Miller, Hutchinson; a sister-in-law, June Peterson Crabbs, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a nephew, Wayne Smalling, Wichita; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Grover C. "John," Henry Morris "Moe," Francis L. and Othal Leon "Pete" Peterson; and a sister, Daisy N. Smalling.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Betty Pinkston presiding. Friends may sign the book Thursday and Friday at the mortuary. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan fund at Good Samaritan Center or Full Gospel Church, both in care of the mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
