Carl John Balzer, 81, died June 22, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Oct. 11, 1924 on the family farm near Inman, the son of Peter W. and Anna Siemens Balzer. He graduated in 1942 from Buhler High School. a 34 year resident of Inman, moving to Hutchinson in 1984, he was a farmer, Allis Chalmers dealer and salesman for Case Power and Equipment.
He belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church, was a former Inman City Council Member and the Inman City Mayor and was an active church volunteer. He served in the U.S. Army in the Medical Hospital Transportation Corp as a surgical technician.
On Feb. 6, 1944, he married Loel Wanita Smith in Partridge. She Survives.
Survivors include: three sons, Steven and his wife, Jeannette, Arvada, CO, Tom and his wife, Phyllis, South Hutchinson and Max and his wife Lea, Fruita, CO; a sister, Ella Brown, Hutchinson; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Ratzlaff.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tim Carey presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Private family inurnment will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
