Carl S. Farney, 79, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Las Vegas, Nev. He was born Aug. 25, 1936, at Plevna, the son of Alvin and Lola (Haas) Farney.
He was a Plevna High School graduate and had been a member of Sterling Evangelical Mennonite Church, where he was the sound technician for many years. Carl was a farmer and stockman in the Plevna community, before moving to Las Vegas in 2003.
On April 27, 1963, he married Janet Earlene Schletzbaum in Hutchinson. She died Nov. 2, 2002. He is survived by: two sons, Keith (Rebecca) of Las Vegas, Nev., and Wesley of Anna Maria, Fla.; and a sister, Alvina Rayl of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marilyn Farney and Rosetta Redenbaugh.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Keith A. Dellenbach presiding. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Sterling Evangelical Bible Church or Serenity Hospice, Las Vegas, NV, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
