Carl Edward "Doggie" Knoefel, 94, died February 1, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson. He was born June 5, 1927, in Abbyville, to Adolph G. and Bernice K. (Birket) Knoefel.

Carl graduated from Abbyville High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. Carl was a farmer in the Abbyville area throughout his lifetime. He also was the road maintainer for Westminster and Enterprise townships for 60 years. Carl enjoyed bowling and model railroading. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Abbyville Community Church.

In 1983, Carl married Linda Baber, in Wichita. She died April 6, 2000.

Survivors include: nephew, Raymond Knoefel (Sheila) of Peck; great-niece, Stephanie Kreutzer (Keegan) of Wichita; great-nephew, Ryan Knoefel of Garden City; great-great-niece, Kalli Jo Kreutzer; and sister-in-law, Louise Knoefel of Abbyville.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Robert; and nephew, Ronald Knoefel.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, February, 11, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Keith A. Dellenbach officiating. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually.
