Obituary

Carl L Sanderson, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to be with the Lord Sept. 30, 2008 at Hospice House of Reno Co.

He was born May 11, 1926 at Chase, Rice Co., KS the son of Charles Sanderson and Gladys McClintock.

He attended Hutchinson High School, leaving at age 17 to join the war effort. He served as a Coxswain in the Navy on the U.S.S. Uvalde. He then married Vera M. Krauter on Oct 11, 1946 in Hutchinson, KS. She survives. He worked at Cessna and was a full time farmer. For a while he worked construction building gas stations across Kansas.

He was a member of Salem Community Church of the Brethren, Nickerson, KS serving many years as a Church Board Member. He also belonged to the American Legion, and the Silver Toppers Bowling League.

Other survivors include: Jerry Sanderson, brother, Wichita, KS; daughters and spouses; Judy and Ron Puckett, Connie and Larry Benton, Nickerson; Beverly and Jim McAdams, Dodge City; and Ruth and Jerry Sisson, Inman. Grandchildren: Angie and Terry Phillips; Andrea and Mike Pflughoft; Amy and Todd Phillips; Dean and Carrie Benton; Tracy and Shawn Ryan; Jason and Sara Miller; Lisa and Patrick Horn; Jeff McAdams; Barry and Brittania Sisson; Cassie Sisson; Matthew Sisson; and Isaac Sisson. Great grandchildren : Jessica Phillips, Ali Phillips, Justin Phillips, Jake Pflughoft, Ben Pflughoft, Mike Ryan, Chris Ryan; Zack Ryan; Megan Ryan; Chloie Benton, Grace Benton, Caleb Benton; Nikki Smith, Alex Smith; Jocelyn Miller; and Mallory Miller; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends from many years of Bridge, Bingo, Sale Barn, Red Dale Camping and Square dancing.

He was preceded in death by sister Joyce Stewart and brother Marlin Sanderson.

Funeral will be held at Elliott Mortuary, Friday October 3 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George Hinton, Salem Church; and Pastor Wayne Johnson, Medora Bible Church presiding. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, KS with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Salem Church or Hospice House of Reno Co. in care of Elliott Mortuary.
