Regina Gaeddert
August 6, 1938 – March 17, 2017
Carol Regina "Jean" (Israel) Gaeddert, 78, of Hutchinson, beloved mother of Sheryl and Sherry, and loving wife of Richard B. Gaeddert, died March 17, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 6, 1938, in Spearville, the daughter of Lawrence and Regina (Stegman) Israel.
Carol graduated from Offerle High School in 1956. Carol was the owner and operator of Carol's Poodle's Salon in Hutchinson, and the Highway 50 Drive-In in Cimarron. Carol was a Christian at heart and was of the Catholic faith, but she attended Faith United Methodist Church, Union Valley Bible Church and the rural church where they lived in Arkansas with her husband Richard. Carol was better known to her grandchildren as "Poodle Grandma".
On Jan. 22, 1972, Carol married Richard Bruce Gaeddert in Newton. He died Sept. 5, 2013. Survivors include: daughters, Sheryl White and husband Tim of Wichita, Sherry Bradley and Charles Scott of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ryan White (Tori), Cody White (Crystal), Andrea Barnhart (Brandon), Jessica Susee (Travis), Jackie Unruh, Lindsey Hatfield (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Cooper, Cole, Porter, Boone, Madeline, Maxton, Tyler, Hank, Clayton, and two on the way; sisters, Shirley Schmidt of Spearville, Barbara Grantham of Dodge City, LauRay Edwards of Dodge City, Mary Kay Urban (Terry) of Topeka, and Judy Hilker (Dave) of Cimarron. She was preceded in death by: her parents; and sister, Virginia Downing.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Dillon Nature Center, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Amy Claassen presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno County, Hutchinson Animal Shelter, and Dillon Nature Center, all in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
Carol will be sorely missed by her many friends and family. We the family, are comforted by knowing that today she is free from pain and suffering and is waiting for us to join her in God's presence. And anyone who knew Carol knew how tough she was and that she fought cancer until her last breath.
