Caroline E. Knerr, 85, of Hutchinson died Dec. 13, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Emmett A. and Grace Lay Eagan. She was a retired Registered Nurse, who had worked at the Medical Center for 32 years in pediatrics. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1942 and St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in 1945.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Tri-M Sunday School class of the church, and the Kansas Nurses Association.
She married John W. Knerr on March 14, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo. He died Jan. 25, 1999. Survivors include: a son, Ronald Knerr, Dallas; a sister, Mary E. Fairley, North Platte, Neb.; a grandson, John M. Dodge, Hutchinson; granddaughters, Carrie A. Knerr, Allen, Texas, and Amber D. Keele, Lubbock, Texas; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Judy Dodge Brown and a granddaughter, Kendra Dodge Duggan.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, with Pastor Jeanine Rishel presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be Sunday 1 to 9 p.m. and Monday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family present to greet friends on Monday 7 to 8 p.m., all at Elliott Mortuary.
