Caroline "Joan" Nelson, 81, of Chase, died July 31, 2019, at her home.  She was born April 25, 1938, in Newton, to Daniel and Ruth (Heller) Kasper.

Joan retired from Essex Corporation in Hoisington as a machine operator.  She was of the Southern Baptist faith.

On October 7, 1956, Joan married Clarence Wesley "Bud" Nelson, Sr. in Bushton.  He died February 10, 2011.

Joan is survived by:  sons, Clarence W. Nelson, Jr. of Lakeside, Montana, Lorne Nelson, Lyle Nelson, both of Chase; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Carol Salzman and Laverta Kasper.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service.  Memorials may be made to the Caroline Nelson Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
