Carolyn Kay Dooley, age 71, passed away on May 31, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 12, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Glen and Ann Waterman Trapp.
Carolyn was a graduate of Wichita East High School, Wichita, Kansas then graduated from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas in 1963, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education. She taught English four years at Buhler High School before completing her career with an 18-year tenure at Liberty Middle School in Hutchinson.
On June 23, 1963, Carolyn married Tom Dooley in Wichita.
Carolyn was an active member of the Hutchinson Community Church of the Brethren. She was a charter member of PEO Chapter HP and a member of the Kansas State Retired Teacher's Association.
She is survived by: her husband, Tom Dooley of the home; her two sons, Mark and wife Hedy of Bellingham, Washington, and Scott and wife Lisa of Springfield, Ohio; her four grandchildren, Joaquim of Bellingham, and Katrina, Owen, and Miles of Springfield; her adopted children, Randy and Tina Beeghly of Hutchinson, Kansas; her adopted grandsons, Jeff and wife Amanda Beeghly of Buhler, Kansas, and Derek Beeghly of Hutchinson; her mother-in-law, Mary S. Dooley of Glendale, Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
Carolyn, an only child, was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Marlo Oltman and Ed Switzer officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials in memory of Carolyn may be made to Hutchinson Public Library, Hutchinson Friends of the Zoo, or the Hutchinson Community Church of the Brethren, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main Street Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
