Carolyn Joyce Dority, 81, died April 18, 2021, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born July 4, 1939, in Hutchinson, to William Robert and Lola Fern (Uncapher) Demoret.
Carolyn retired as custodian at Nickerson High School. She enjoyed crocheting, singing, and visiting with anyone she encountered, no matter if she knew them or they were a stranger. Carolyn loved the Lord and was a true prayer warrior, praying daily for her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith, and will be greatly missed by her family.
On August 31, 1956, she married Pastor Harvey Doyle Dority, in Hutchinson. He died January 15, 2004, after they shared over 48 years of marriage.
Carolyn is survived by: children, Kimberly Hooker of Hutchinson, Debra Alumbaugh (Bill) of Larned, Vicki Lynn Dority of Hutchinson, and Mitchell Dority of Arkansas City; siblings, Daniel Demoret, Robert Demoret, and Sue Ellen Gore, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Sharon Marker (Brent), Serena Shea (Tommy), Nathan Hooker (Holly), Jessica MacMahon (David), and Ashley Manges (James); great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Jaclyn, Mackenzie, David, Sarah, Lexia, Chloe, Aleiya, Tommy, Blaine, Kolby, Kalie, Caitlin, and Clayton; and one great-great-grandson, to join the family in November.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, David and Stephen; sisters-in-law, Vicki Demoret and Kathy Demoret; brother-in-law, Jim Gore; and sons-in-law, Melvin Hooker and John Holmes; and nephew, Kenny Bankey.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with grandson, Nathan Hooker, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Pleasant View Home Activity Fund (for the Walnut Court residents), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
