Carolyn Virginia Hovious, 85, of Hutchinson, Kansas, died on March 15, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities. She was born on April 13, 1936, in Wichita, to Cecil and Blanche (Johnson) Worley.

On June 18, 1955, Carolyn married Dale Warren Hovious in Hutchinson. They shared 60 years of marriage. He died on September 7, 2015.

Carolyn worked for many years at Singleton Joyce Optical. She attended Crossroads Christian Church and enjoyed volunteering and participating in activities at Elmdale and Delos V. Smith Senior Centers. She especially loved to play bingo!

After retiring, Dale and Carolyn loved to travel and spent many winters in Texas gathering for evenings of music and pot-luck dinners with friends. They truly loved spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters Kris Sallee (Dale), Hutchinson, and Lisa Shelton, Greenville, South Carolina; grandchildren Sarah Moreland (Kyle), Adam Sallee (Abby), Nathaniel Miklos, Amanda Miklos, Megan Hovious (Amber); great-grandchildren Emaline, Amelie, Eden, Jude, Ryan, Allison, Madelyn, Charlie, Ta'kota; and four siblings.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, son Rick, and eight siblings.

Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary with Pastor Gary Getting officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the guestbook from 1:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 20 and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Monday, March 21 at Elliott Mortuary.
