Carolyn 'Susie' Sue McFarland, 77, passed away September 22, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born November 8, 1944, in Leesville, LA, to Zollie and Mary (Lane) Altes.
Susie graduated from Fort Smith Northside High School, Fort Smith, AR. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson. On August 11, 1967, Susie married Roy E. McFarland, Jr., in Fort Smith, AR. They shared over 55 years of marriage.
Susie, along with her husband, were the persons responsible for the organization and operation of the Hutchinson Community Church Softball League. This organization provided leagues and tournaments in softball, basketball, volleyball, golf, and bowling, for the various churches in the Hutchinson area to participate. Susie could always be found working the concession stand at the City of South Hutchinson softball complex during the summer softball league.
Susie is survived by: her husband, Roy McFarland of Hutchinson, KS; children, Bob McFarland of Hutchinson, KS, Leslie (Jeff) Cardwell of Olathe, KS, Mark (Erin) McFarland of Hutchinson, KS, Jeff (Trish) McFarland of Halstead, KS, Melissa Dillon of Wichita, KS, and Meredith McFarland of Wichita, KS; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Judy Wallace and Steve Altes; and grandson, David Cardwell.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at First Church of the Nazarene, 4290 N. Monroe, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Tim Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Reins of Hope in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
