Obituary

Carrie Ann Steed, 88, died April 2, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Sterling, the daughter of Hubert and Julia Shuler Steed. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1936, Hutchinson Community College and the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She taught school for 35 years at Prosperity and North Reno Schools, retiring in 1980.

She belonged to Park Place Christian Church, was active in Delta Kappa Gamma, was inducted in the Kansas Teacher's Hall of Fame in 1985 and was an active volunteer at Hutchinson Hospital in the gift shop as well as Park Place Christian Church.

Survivors include: two nieces, Diane Steed, Annapolis, Md., and Susie Steed, Wichita; and a sister-in-law, Helen Steed, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Steed.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Park Place Christian Church, with Pastor Kim Biery presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
