Catherine Ann "Katie" James, 81, died Saturday, March 24, 2012. She was born in Hutchinson, July 8, 1930, the daughter of C. Leo and Sara Beatrice Harney Harris. She attended Hutchinson schools, was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Hutchinson Horseless Carriage Club and a homemaker.

On April 6, 1952, she married George D. James Jr. He died Nov. 14, 2007.

She is survived by several cousins.

Katie was preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Leo James, and a brother, Buddy Leo Newton Harris.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeanine I. Rishel officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church, in care of the mortuary.
