PRETTY PRAIRIE - Cecil R. Siebert, 87, died April 30, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, and Mary K. Siebert, 82, died May 3, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.
Cecil was born Nov. 26, 1922, in Pretty Prairie, the son of Edward Valentine and Ethel Bramwell Siebert. He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School and Kansas State University. A lifetime Pretty Prairie resident, he was a farmer and stockman.
Mary was born July 15, 1927, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Winfred and Ada Jones Ford. She graduated from Buhler High School and the Salt City Business College. A lifetime Reno County resident, living in Pretty Prairie since her marriage, she was a homemaker.
Cecil and Mary belonged to New Jerusalem Church, Pretty Prairie.
On March 6, 1949, Cecil R. Siebert married Mary K. Ford in Hutchinson.
Their survivors include: sons, Ray and wife Jane Siebert, Larry and wife Debbie Siebert, all of Pretty Prairie; daughter, Sandy Degi and husband, Greg, Ft. Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren, Casana Brunton and husband Jason, Andrew Siebert and wife Amy, Leslie Siebert and husband Brandon Gonzalez, Clark Siebert, Kevin Degi and wife Kristyn, and Karen Fang and husband Nick; and a great-granddaughter, Camryn Siebert. Cecil is survived by a sister, Virginia McGovern and Mary's sister, Betty Jean Cook, both of Hutchinson. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Pretty Prairie Middle School Auditorium, with the Rev. Alison Lane-Olsen and Eric Zacharias presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The caskets will remain closed. Burial will be in Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church or Pretty Prairie Community Scholarship Fund, in care of the mortuary.
