Celeste Nicole
Gerber
June 12, 1986 – September 28, 2025
Celeste Nicole Gerber passed away on September 28, 2025 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Born June 12, 1986, she was just 39 years old leaving her family shocked and deeply saddened by her sudden passing.
Growing up, Celeste loved helping at the Emmaus House and volunteering at Reach Camp with her dad and step-mom. She attended Garden City High School where she played Cello and enjoyed hanging out with her friends. She married Chancy Fanning in 2005. They had three beautiful children before separating.
After making the move to Hutchinson, Celeste began her career at Hutchinson Clinic in the billing and insurance department before working at Health Equip. In October 2024 she made the transition to Disability Supports of the Great Plains where she was a Level 2 Direct Support Person. Working there was what made Celeste decide to pursue her CNA License. She was a very dedicated person that had a heart of gold, always wanting to help people in any way that she could. Even in her passing, Celeste was able to help other people by being a true hero as an organ donor.
During her time on earth, Celeste enjoyed painting, jewelry making, snuggling up with a good murder mystery and crocheting while watching True Crime documentaries. She was also an avid supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project and a true advocate for Suicide Awareness, which took up a big space in her heart.
Celeste is missed by her: children, Zackary, Alexzandrite, and Madison Fanning; father, Steven Gerber; mother, Karen Gerber; brothers, Matthew Gerber (Amanda), Jim Diamond, Anton Diamond, Robbie; sisters, Marisha Thiessen (Todd), Michele Yost, Amanda Hunter (Jeremy); grandmother, Celestine Gwynn; honorary children, James "Bubba" Tonn, Holley Zecha, Marshall Wetzel, Justice Metheny, Dakota Metheny; honorary grandchildren, Paisley Zecha, Westin Zecha; furbabies, Sam, Lalo, Beast, Kopa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was welcomed into heaven by: grandparents, Norbert and Sarah Gerber, and M.A Gwynn; stepmother, Laurie Gerber; sisters, Jamie Carr, Michaela Gerber; brother, Elijah Lanier; aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Garden City.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Celeste Gerber Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
