Charlene L. Bottomley, 81, died Nov. 10, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Pendall, Ark., the daughter of Otto Monroe and Leva Still Nichols.
She was a 1946 graduate of Wichita East High School and attended Wichita State University. A former resident of Wichita, moving to Hutchinson in 1969, she was the administrator of service records at the former Bob Bottomley Olds, Cadillac, Datsun Dealership.
She was the former Miss Wichita in 1946 and Miss Wheatheart in 1947.
On Feb. 20, 1948, she married Robert J. "Bob" Bottomley in Wichita. He died May 25, 2004.
Survivors include: son, David and wife Kay, Hutchinson; brother, Sammy Nichols and wife Winnie, Uriah, Ala.; sisters, June Fuqua and husband Dave, Albuquerque, N.M.; half brother, Scott Nichols, Wichita; half sisters, Kathy Patterson, Shell Knob, Mo., Jo George, Fair Grove, Mo., Sherri Ewert, Sterling, and Laurie Carrell, Wichita; two step grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Robert C. and Steven N. Bottomley.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1806 N. Oliver in Wichita, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House or Promise Regional Medial Center Foundation, in care of the mortuary.
