Charles Edward Bohnstedt, 88, died Dec. 23, 2006, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born June 28, 1918, in Alney, Ill., the son of Ross and Elsie Guess Bohnstedt. He graduated from high school in Indianapolis and later from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering. A resident of Hutchinson since 1992, formerly of Somerset, N.J., he was a retired design engineer with Westinghouse Corp., Somerset, N.J.
He was a former member of Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
On Feb. 27, 1968, he married Freddie Gene Kendall in Somerset, N.J. She survives.
Other survivors include: two stepsons, William Kendall, Hutchinson, and Randall Lee Kendall, Manassas, Va.; a niece, Donna Wagley; three stepnieces, Ruth A. Bronson, Honey D. Grant and Toni Coupland; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a grandson.
No services are scheduled. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
