Charles N. Dixon, age 93, died Feb. 16, 2015, at the Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. He was born July 16, 1921, in Reno County, the son of Cyrus Ray and Pearl R. (Saxton) Dixon.
A 1940 graduate of Nickerson High School, Charles married Marjorie Theiss in Dec. of 1950. She preceded him in death. Charles was a longtime Nickerson area farmer and following his retirement from farming, he worked several years at the East 4th Street Dillon's Store as a carry-out clerk, retiring from that job at the age of 89. He was a lifetime member of Fairview United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His survivors include: daughter, Shirley Brigman (Larry) of Nickerson; sister, Norma Jean Hoskinson of Haven; sisters-in-law, Pat Bass and Ruth Brown; grandchildren, Mandy Knight (Jeremy) of Olathe, Benjamin Keene (Amy) of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Cyrus Knight, Beckett Knight, Lilly Keene and Alex Kendell. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Merle Dixon; and an infant sister.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Tom Dixon officiating. Military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
