Charles L. "Fuzzy" Snyder, born Aug. 16, 1938, to Belva and Waid Snyder Sr., passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2016. He called Huntington, West Virginia, home for most of his life, only moving to Hutchinson in July 2015 to be close to his kids. He missed the hills and his brother, but he came to enjoy his time here. There were new experiences he looked forward to, like watching a huge flock of ducks or geese fly over, or seeing a bunch of wild turkeys eating in a field early on a Saturday morning. But mostly he loved the very special time he had with family.
Survivors include: his wife and true love of more than 56 years, Juanita; two daughters, Lisa (Frank) Murphy and Beth (Tom) O'Brien, Hutchinson; two brothers, J.R. (Janet) Snyder and Mike (Cecelia) Ross, Huntington, West Virginia; sister, Kathryn (Tom) Gutjahr, Coulterville, Ill.; three grandsons, C.W. (Megin) O'Brien, Hutchinson, John O'Brien, Topeka, Joshua Murphy, Hutchinson; granddaughters, Sarah and Madison Murphy, Sioux Falls, SD; and an "honorary" granddaughter, Lacy Emmerich, Hutchinson; great-grandsons, Kaidyn, Dominic, Deacon and Brycen; great-granddaughters, Arianna and Gracelyn. Additionally, he is survived by a host of beloved nieces and nephews; a very special niece, Shannon Wiley, of Huntington, West Virginia, and his very special and loyal cat, Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tony; brother, Waid Snyder Jr.; and sisters, Helen Lyons and Lisa Ross.
Celebration of life service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation will take place. Memorials may be made to Pleasant View Nursing Home's Plaza Unit, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson KS 67501. Dad loved all things trains – building them, riding on them and talking about them. So he will board the train for his last ride back home, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved son, Tony.
A special thank you to the caring staff of Heartland Hospice, Wichita.
