Charles W. "Mac" McGonigle, 71, died Oct. 12, 2008, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS.

He was born December 16, 1936, in Hutchinson, the son of Algia Emery and Bernice Bainum McGonigle.

He graduated from Hutch inson High School in 1956.

He served in the Navy and then with the Seabees in the naval construction battalion from 1958 to 1962.

A resident of Ventura, CA for most of his life, he worked as a completion engineer in the oil fields and then for the Ventura School District before returning to Hutchinson in May 2004.

On December 30, 1959, he married Catherine M. Silva in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Brent Eugene McGonigle of Oklahoma, Charles James McGonigle and wife Kristi of Catoosa, OK, Andrew William McGonigle and wife Lisa of Ventura, CA, Robert Lawrence McGonigle and wife Trisha of Japan; daughters, Lynne Marie Willhoit and husband Bill of Hutchinson, Melissa Ann Perkins and husband Frank of Dayton, NV; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Kenneth.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, with family to receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
