Charles R. "Chuck" Sprinkle, 76, of Scottsdale, Ariz. passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2012. He was born in Hutchinson, Kan., on Nov. 10, 1935. He was a loving husband to Joan (Doench), dedicated father to his three sons, Ray, Mike and Steve and their wives, Kim, Colleen and Leslie.
He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, Melissa, Chelsea, Kathryn, Anna, Joe and Hannah. He will be missed by his sisters, Ruth Mettlen, Ramona Rose and Carolyn Gordon. He loved Joan's daughters, Lora Doench, Linda Chapin and Lisa Sleeper as his own, along with their husbands, Dave Chapin and David Sleeper. Joan's grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea, Bryce, Brant, Bryan, Adena and Austin were a treasured addition to his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Faubion) Sprinkle of 47 years; sister, Helen Fuller; and his parents. Chuck graduated from Kansas State University, where he played football. He was in the Army for two years as a first lieutenant, stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. He became a successful grocery industry executive, living in Kansas, California, Utah and finally settling in Arizona. Chuck loved the outdoors and golf.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Living Water Lutheran Church, 9201 E. Happy Valley Road, Scottsdale, Ariz. Private family services in Hutchinson will follow in April, under the direction of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Ariz. or to the Mayo Clinic-Department of Development, Scottsdale, Ariz., both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
