Charles "Travis" Spencer, 80, died Feb. 10, 2010, at his home in Hutchinson.
He was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Hutchinson, the son of Roy Lee and Rhoda Faye Rucker Spencer.
He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1948 and attended Hutchinson Community College. Travis served with the Army National Guard as a sergeant. He then worked for the Hutchinson Bag Corporation for 17 years and with Mobil Oil for 22 years. Travis was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. He volunteered for the Reno County Sheriff's Patrol and the Cosmosphere and was the President of the Resident Council at Wesley Towers.
On Oct. 28, 1951, he married Marilyn M. Zeiset in Hutchinson. She died July 21, 2007.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lu Ann Considine and husband Denny, Sterling, and Susan L. Simmons and husband Rodney, Buhler; five grandchildren, Cpl. Travis Vieyra and wife Sarah, Oceanside, Calif., Kristin Vieyra, Buhler, Chad Considine, Karalyne Simmons and Jocelyne Simmons, all of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, Rhoda Spencer Harris, sisters, Minnie Lee Still, Nellie Faye Ragsdale and Lula Spencer.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Alan D. Stambaugh presiding. Friends may call 3 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church or the Wesley Towers Activities Fund.
