Charley S. McCue, 73, of Hutchinson, died October 22, 2026, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 31, 1952, in Wichita, to Susan McCue and adopted by Jack McCue.
On June 13, 1976, Charley married the love of his life, Linda Nugen, in Wellington, KS. They shared 50 years of marriage before his death.
Charley worked as an electronics repair technician for Mike’s TV for most of his career. He had an infectious laugh and could often be seen with a big smile. Charley found joy in following astronauts on journeys and kept up to date with nearly every capsule sent to space. He was a huge supporter of NASA and enjoyed following SpaceX and the new technologies. Charley loved the Cosmosphere and could sometimes be found chatting up other patrons as they explored the museum. His love for his family was fierce. Charley doted on his granddaughter and helped instill a love of space in her as well, passing the mantle on to a new generation.
Charley is survived by: beloved wife, Linda McCue of the home; children, John (Rebecca) McCue of Hutchinson and Chelsea (Jarid) Autrey of Elizabeth, Colorado; adored grandchild, Mira McCue of Hutchinson; brothers, Colin (Bev) McCue of Sioux City, Iowa and Chris (Carla) McCue of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania; aunt, Sarah Maloney of Leawood, Kansas; and cousins, Susan Winters of Overland Park, Kansas and Jimmy (Tammy Jones-Winters) Winters of Independence, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
