Chester W. "Chet" Gantz died July 8, 2014 at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. He was born August 28, 1918 in Huntsville, KS, to George and Mary (Wright) Gantz.
He married Sara May "Sally" Griffin on September 14, 1941 in Ulysses, KS. She survives. Chet worked for Cessna as a quality control inspector for over 20 years before retiring in 1981. He loved traveling after retirement, visiting all 50 states and overseas.
Chet was a member in the Barbershoppers and Trinity United Methodist Church, and sang in the church choir. He was an avid Kansas State fan.
Survivors include: daughter, Janice Highness and husband Gene, Shawnee, KS, sons, Gary Gantz and wife Elaine, Oak Harbor, WA, Michael Gantz and wife Lisa, Jackson, MO, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, brothers, Jesse, Clarence, Frank, Albert, Forrest, sisters, Hazel, Esther, Minnie, Elsie.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., July 12, 2014, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Michael McGuire presiding. Friends may call Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
