Christopher Alan “Chris” Mills, 55, formerly of Hutchinson, died July 1, 2026, in Wichita. He was born April 12, 1971, in Hutchinson, to Merlin “Skip” and Jeanette (Obee) Mills.

Chris was a 1989 graduate of Hutchinson High School. He was a para educator for Faris Elementary and the Early Education Center, Hutchinson.

Chris is survived by: his wife, Elly Mills; sons, Bastian (Caytlin) Mills, both of Wichita, Dakota (Dakota) Mills of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Britany James, and Aaron Carter (Damian); parents, Merlin “Skip” and Jeanette Mills of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Dante, Luna, Liam, Dravin, Destiny, and Dexter; sister, Jennifer Schissler of Sterling; nephews, Nicholas and Zachary Schissler; as well as a host of cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Celebration of Life will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Rice Park Community Building, 44 Swarens, Hutchinson. The family invites those attending to wear bright colors and Hawaiian shirts, in honor of Chris’ love for colorful clothing. For those who wish to stay and gather to tell memories and fellowship, a potluck meal will immediately follow, those staying are asked to bring a dish to share if possible. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the week, at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
