Claire D. Magnuson, 87, died Dec. 31, 2016, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Darlow, to Harold S. and Vera V. (Samson) Magnuson.

Claire graduated from Castleton High School in 1949. He was a farmer and after retiring, he started doing woodworking. Claire was a member of Partridge Community Church.

On Oct. 8, 1950, he married Donna M. Kagarice in Castleton. They shared 66 years of marriage. Claire was a loving husband and father. He is survived by: wife, Donna of the home; daughters, Connie Miller and husband Ed of South Hutchinson, Carolyn Breidenstein and husband Larry of Arlington, Cheryl Douglas of Hutchinson, Celia Borders and husband Greg of Arlington, Colleen Mosier and husband Roger of Hutchinson; sister, Nancy Culver of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Frank Jordan of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. Claire was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Jack, and Albert Magnuson; and great-grandson, Chris Sullivan.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bart Horton officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
