Clara E. Parks, 91, died Feb. 24, 2006, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie.
She was born Nov. 5, 1914, in Seward County, the daughter of James and Mary Beliel Shinkle. A resident of Hutchinson, formerly of Langdon and Plevna, she was a school cook at Fairfield High School, was a seamstress and quilter winning several awards at the Kansas State Fair.
She belonged to Kingman United Methodist Church and was a former member of Community Church of the Brethren, Hutchinson.
On Jan. 11, 1933, she married Louis Parks in Hutchinson. He died Sept. 19, 1983.
Survivors include: a son, Leland, PhD and wife, Emilie, Overland Park; two daughters, Joyce Trott and husband, Ted, Bellevue, Wash., and Valorise Blumanhourst, Kingman; a brother, James Shinkle, Cheney; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Velva Jean; two brothers, Arthur and Elmer; and two sisters, Violet Shinkle and Ethel Keyser.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fairlawn Burial Park, with Marlo Oltman presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
