Obituary

BOISE, Idaho - Clarence E. Biggs, 69, died Aug. 22, 2011, at his home in Boise, Idaho.

He was born April 18, 1942, in Hutchinson, Kan., the son of Edward C. and Frances L. Biggs.

He graduated in 1960 from Haven High School. Afterward, he was drafted and served in Korea. He enrolled in Fort Hays State University shortly after his return, graduating in 1968, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

On April 16, 1966, he married Carol J. Katzenmeier. She survives.

Other survivors include: a sister, Phyllis Krehbiel of Hutchinson, Kan.; a daughter, Connie Lobb, her husband Jeff and grandchildren, Carissa and Jarrett of Denver, Colo.; a son, Chad Biggs, his wife Erika and granddaughter, Susannah of Boise, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. He was known by friends and family as a genuine character with a sharp wit, outgoing nature, love of mirth and enjoyment of his family, especially his grandchildren. Following a well-traveled career with the Federal Land Bank, he and his wife settled in Seattle in the late 1980s to run convenience stores and inspire new stories in the Pacific Northwest. His character and love for his family and friends will be sorely missed by everyone he touched.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, his parents, and sister, Shirley Ipson.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at 5905 W. 4th, Hutchinson, Kan., with Pastor Tyler Vance officiating. Memorial service will be at First Baptist Church at 11 a.m., 800 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kan.

Memorials may be sent to Hearts for Hospice in Meridian, Idaho or Good Shepherd Lutheran in Boise, Idaho, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
