Obituary

Claudette Kay Payne, 50, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. She was born June 2, 1963, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Claude Dwayne and Carolyn Kay Spencer Herbison.

She was a 1981 graduate of Central Christian High School, a 1998 graduate of Wichita Technical College and a member of the Association of Nutrition and Food Service Professionals. Claudette was an assistant food service director at Wesley Towers.

On Jan. 22, 1982, she married Johnny Lee Payne in Hutchinson. He survives.

Also surviving are: three children, Heather Kay Payne, Jonathan Ray, Jacob Lee, all of Hutchinson; mother, Carolyn and Guy Spencer and two sisters, Sarah Feliu, all of Topeka, Andrea and Wesley Bygel of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Richard Herbison of Gonzales, La.; stepbrother, Joshua Herbison of Goodyear, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Xavier Blackburn, Alexander Blackburn, Hendrix Blackburn, Noah Jacob Payne and Raylee Payne. She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Misty Dawn Herbison; and grandmother, Agnes Farthing.

Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend Wesley Bygel officiating. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Elmer. Her register book will be available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
