Obituary

Clayton “Bud” Lloyd Kaegi, 65, of South Hutchinson, passed away August 12, 2026, at his home. He was born February 21, 1961, in Hutchinson, to Stuart Eugene and Betty Louise (Jones) Kaegi.

Bud graduated from Nickerson High School in 1979. He worked at Krause as a steelyard expeditor for over 25 years. Bud had a passion for music and grew an extensive rock and roll record collection, as well as collected all kinds of stereo equipment. He was a natural-born comedian and loved to make people laugh. He was the perfect definition of a jack-of-all-trades. Bud enjoyed spending time tinkering with his toys and putting his creative touch on just about anything.

Bud is survived by: his beloved daughters, Leigha (Dustin) Hendrickson of South Hutchinson, and Jael Kaegi of Hutchinson; forever friend, Jacqueline “Jacki” Honn; brothers, Mike (Sheila) Kaegi of South Hutchinson, and Tim (Marsha) Kaegi of Burrton; aunt, Patrica Schrag of Overland Park; as well as many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and brother, Mark Kaegi.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Kevin Guffey officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary.
