Clayton W. Jones, 88, of Nickerson, went to be with the Lord, on June 10, 2026. He was born, June 4, 1938, in rural Mullinville, KS, to Clarence and Marie (Lewis) Jones. Clayton attended grade school in Mullinville and high school in Greensburg, KS, graduating in 1956. On April 20, 1957, he married Donna Arlyn Jack in Greensburg. They celebrated over 64 years of marriage together. Beginning in 1959, Clayton worked and was a manager of several Home Lumber and Supply Companies in Beaver, OK, Gate, OK, Plains, KS, Greensburg, KS, Nickerson, KS, and Sterling, KS, retiring in 2017.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Nickerson, Masonic Lodge Scottish Rite in Wichita, and Lakeside Boating and Camping in Nickerson. In his spare time, he loved feeding his fish and spending time with his family.
Clayton is survived by: his son, Steven (Terrel) Jones of Wichita; daughters, Jamie (Jim) Arneson of South Hutchinson and Carol (Mike) McLemore of Nickerson; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his wife; parents; brothers, Charles and Chester Jones; and sister, Dolly Adolph.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at First Southern Baptist, 1201 East 23rd, Hutchinson. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday June 19, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary.
