Clifford Earl "Buddy" Barnes Sr., 77, died Jan. 27, 2013, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 29, 1935, to Clarence Arthur and Cora Leal Smith Barnes in Hutchinson, Kan.

He owned and operated Barnes Tree Service for over 50 years, was a fireman and attended Christian Full Gospel Chapel of Prayer. Clifford served in the Army and was discharged as a private.

On Jan. 30, 1956, he married Louella Mary Riead in Hutchinson. She died April 14, 1999. He later married Norma Grace Lane on Nov. 29, 1999. She survives.

Other survivors include: daughter, Debbie Weible and son-in-law Glen Schartz of Hutchinson; son, Jim Barnes and wife Marsha of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Karen Roberts and husband Jeff and Gary Lane, all of Hutchinson; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother, George Barnes of Hutchinson; brother-in-law, John Riead and wife Shirley of Garden City; sisters, Viola Starkes of Hutchinson, Lorrie Forbes of Hutchinson; half-sister, Mildred Barnes of Wichita. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clifford Barnes Jr.; brothers, E.D. Barnes, Billy Barnes; sisters, Cora Preston, Bessie Vater, Clara Jenks and Annie Barnes.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Jerry Stokely presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
