Clifford Dale Newell Sr., 80, died March 8, 2007, at Golden Plains Health Care Center.
He was born Feb. 16, 1927, in McAllaster, the son of Andrew J. and Mabel L. Keever Newell. A resident of Reno County since 1981, he was a farmer.
He belonged to Full Gospel Assembly Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Bob Campbell Post No. 1361. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II and the Korean War.
On April 5, 1959, he married Ethel L. Diggs at Winona First Methodist Church. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Clifford D., Jr., Hutchinson, and Don, Goodland; a daughter, Patricia Smith, Saginaw, Texas; a brother, A.J. "Cye" Portland, Ore.; a sister, Lola Mather, Kansas City; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John.
Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tom Dillwith presiding. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Winona Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
