Obituary

Cora N. Fischer, 92, died August 11, 2011, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Codell, Kansas, to Roy and Nellie Spencer Workman.

She was a farmer, and then she owned Fischer Motel in Plainville from 1967 to 1997. She was a past member of the Golden Lily #124 Order of Eastern Star, Ellis. A resident of the Hutchinson area since 1997, Cora was a member of Tenth Avenue Methodist Church. On December 24, 1939, she married Harlin Fischer in Plainville. He died September 9, 1994.

Survivors include: three daughters, Shirley McDiffett and husband Don, of Enid, Okla., Judy Crist and husband Larry of Salem, Ill., and Jan Dreiling and husband Kevin of Hutchinson; two sisters, Jenny Arnold of Salina and Dorothy Williams of Yakima, Wash.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Workman, and a sister, Ina Alloway.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Plainville Cemetery, Plainville, Kansas. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, in care of the mortuary.
